Environmental Management Policy
- 1. Tree planting by Carriers (Vehicle Operators), Staff and Families: 1,000 trees to be planted on the family day followed by a barbeque, by the end of June 2009.
- 2. We have installed “Carbon Friendly” Light Fittings through out our organisation which will reduce our electricity usage by 50% and “Carbon Emissions” by 50%. This has a huge impact on reducing the land fill by 7-8 times as these lights have life span of 100,000 hours rather than the ones we currently use which has a lifespan, of 15,000 hours. It will also reduce the heat generated by the new light fittings by 15% therefore a reduction in our air conditioning usage and “Carbon Emissions” by 15%.
- 3. Our carriers are required to utilise mobile data terminals (PDA’s) with sign on glass for proof of delivery (POD), which helps reduce the use of paper based Carrier run sheets.
- 4. We email most of the Carriers Remittance Advice and the Newsletters, therefore reducing the use of paper.
- 5. Reduce the use of Plastic Bags in our Offices and the Homes of our Carrier’s and Staff.
- 6. Utilising recycled paper throughout the company from letter heads, Invoices, Copy Paper, most Printed Materials and most importantly the use of electronic communication.
